06.08.2017 SCOTT Erzgebirgs-Bike-Marathon powered by Bike 24, Seiffen (GER)

The SCOTT ERZGEBIRGS-BIKE-MARATHON powered by BIKE24 is Germany’s oldest mountain bike marathon and takes place for 25st time this year. Seiffen, the host town famous for its folk art tradition, is a quiet little village with about 2.000 inhabitants located about an hour drive from Chemnitz and Dresden in Sachen close to the Czech Republic border. While in 1993, 214 bikers signed up for the first competition, cheered by a handful friends, more than 1.500 participants showed up in Seiffen the past few years. Already legendary is the unbelievable atmosphere at the "Alp de Wettin", where hundreds of fans cheer for the marathon bikers. A marathon with one, two or three laps, a great mix of pro and amateur sport, a sports event as well as a family event, and a long tradition formed EBM, which became a kind of myth amongst the numerous and often rather uniform competitors.
